Qualified as a Barrister, Mediator and Chartered Arbitrator. Over 25 years experience. Have been a Mediator since 1994 and Family Dispute Resolution Provider since 2009. He was an early adopter of mediation and has conducted over 4,000 mediations and conciliations for all types of disputes. He has spent over 12 years as an arbitral member of various NSW government tribunals and has been qualified by The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) as a Chartered Arbitrator. He continues as an arbitrator to the NSW Local and District Courts, is appointed to conduct mining land access arbitrations for the NSW Government and as a Family Law arbitrator. He teaches the undergraduate law course in Commercial Dispute Resolution at the University of Sydney Law School as a one-semester program for undergraduate and juris doctor students, which is heavily orientated to practical skills.
He also delivers training for lawyers and corporate executives as the Legalwise “Minus on Mediation” programme, an advanced process of transformative mediation uniquely involving both the Harvard University Program on Negotiation model and the Japanese martial art of Aikido, the Way of Harmony. From 1 December 2016, he has been appointed as the Commonwealth Government’s Mediation Adviser with responsibility for arranging the dispute resolution processes for the Franchising Code of Conduct, the Horticulture Code of Conduct and the Oilcode, which are prescribed codes under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
